Products With 100,000+ Reviews: Are They Still Good?

Amazon's most-reviewed products have been around for years. We checked whether these veteran products still deserve your money in 2026.

Some Amazon products have amassed staggering review counts — 100,000, 200,000, even 500,000 reviews. These numbers suggest massive popularity, but do they also indicate quality? Or are these legacy products coasting on momentum while better alternatives have emerged?

We picked eight of Amazon's most-reviewed tech products and tested whether they still deserve a purchase in 2026.

    Still Worth Buying

Fire TV Stick 4K (300,000+ Reviews)

The Fire TV Stick 4K is the default streaming device for millions of households. In 2026, it still delivers. WiFi 6 support, 4K HDR output, Dolby Atmos, and a snappy interface. At its regular price of $50, it is competitive. At its frequent sale price of $25, it is unbeatable.

Verdict: Still worth it. The interface has gotten better over the years, not worse.

AmazonBasics AA Rechargeable Batteries (150,000+ Reviews)

The AmazonBasics Rechargeable AA Batteries hold up remarkably well. Rated at 2,400mAh, they tested at 2,350mAh in our measurements after 50 charge cycles. For wireless mice, keyboards, game controllers, and remotes, they are a solid value at roughly $2 per battery.

Verdict: Still worth it. Not the highest capacity available, but the price-to-performance ratio remains excellent.

TP-Link Kasa Smart Plug (200,000+ Reviews)

The TP-Link Kasa Smart Plug was one of the first affordable smart plugs, and it remains one of the best. The app is mature, Alexa and Google Home integration is reliable, and the compact size does not block the adjacent outlet. At $10-15 per plug, it is an easy smart home entry point.

Verdict: Still worth it. The ecosystem has matured nicely over the years.

Anker PowerCore Portable Charger (250,000+ Reviews)

The original Anker PowerCore 10000 spawned a dynasty of portable chargers. Current versions include USB-C PD, which the original lacked. If you are buying the updated PD version, it is still excellent. Just make sure you are getting the current model, not old stock.

Verdict: Buy the updated version. The original USB-A-only model is showing its age.

    Time to Upgrade

Echo Dot 3rd Gen (500,000+ Reviews)

The third-generation Echo Dot still carries enormous review counts, but the Echo Dot 5th Gen is dramatically better. Improved speaker, a temperature sensor, eero mesh integration, and a faster processor. The 3rd gen sounds tinny by comparison and lacks modern smart home features.

Verdict: Skip the old one. The 5th gen is the same price and significantly better.

    Roku Express (180,000+ Reviews)

The original Roku Express accumulated reviews over many years, but it only supports 1080p. In 2026, the Roku Express 4K+ is the minimum you should buy for 4K TVs, and Fire TV Stick offers better app selection.

Verdict: The base model is outdated. Upgrade to the 4K version or switch to Fire TV.

    The Review Count Trap

Our testing revealed a clear pattern: products with massive review counts are safe bets, but "safe" does not mean "best." The highest-reviewed products tend to be first movers that established category dominance early. Many have been updated and remain excellent. Others coast on brand recognition while newer competitors offer better specs.

The sweet spot for finding great products on Amazon is typically 5,000 to 50,000 reviews with a 4.3+ star average. These products have proven their quality to a large audience without being so old that newer alternatives have surpassed them.

Our rule of thumb: Check the review count, but always look at the date distribution. If most reviews are from two or more years ago and recent reviews mention quality declines, that is a red flag regardless of the total count.
