The Tech Products That Never Go on Sale (Just Buy Them)

Some products never get meaningful discounts — not on Prime Day, Black Friday, or any other sale event. Here's what to stop waiting for and just buy.

BestElectronicsReviewed.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through links on this page, at no extra cost to you.

We track pricing data on thousands of products year-round. Some products reliably drop 20-40% on Prime Day or Black Friday. Others barely budge. If you are waiting for a sale on these products, you are just delaying your enjoyment without saving meaningful money.

    Apple Products: 5-10% Max, Ever

Apple controls its pricing more tightly than any other tech company. The Apple AirPods Pro 2 launched at $249 and has only dropped to $189 during the biggest sales events — a 24% discount that took over a year to materialize. Day-to-day pricing hovers around $199-229.

The same pattern holds for MacBooks, iPads, Apple Watch, and AirPods Max. Discounts of $30-50 appear on Prime Day and Black Friday, but Apple rarely allows deeper cuts. If you need an Apple product, the best strategy is to buy refurbished from Apple's own store or catch the modest Prime Day dip.

Logitech MX Series: Steady as a Rock

The Logitech MX Master 3S retails at $100 and rarely drops below $85. The MX Keys S keyboard has a similar pattern. Logitech maintains premium pricing on its MX line because the products sell consistently without discounts.

We checked three years of pricing data. The maximum discount we found was 20% during a brief Black Friday window. Most of the year, these products sit at or within $5 of MSRP.

Our advice: If you want an MX Master 3S, just buy it. Waiting six months for a $15 discount is not worth the productivity you are missing.

    Sony WH-1000XM5: Sticky Pricing

Sony's flagship headphones have a pattern. They launch at $400, drop to $350 within six months, settle around $300-330, and then stay there stubbornly. The Sony WH-1000XM5 has hit $248 exactly once — on Black Friday 2025. Every other day, it sits at $300+.

If you see the XM5 at $278 or below, that is as good as it gets outside of Black Friday. Do not wait for $200. It will not happen until the XM6 launches.

Samsung Flagship Phones: Trade-In, Not Sales

Samsung's Galaxy S-series phones rarely see direct price cuts larger than $50 on Amazon. Samsung's strategy is trade-in promotions through Samsung.com rather than retail discounts. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has maintained a $1,200-1,300 price on Amazon since launch.

The hack: Buy through Samsung.com with a trade-in for significantly better value, or buy the previous year's model on Amazon once the new one launches.

    Nintendo Switch: Forever Full Price

Nintendo is legendary for maintaining full retail pricing. The Switch 2 will likely follow the same pattern as every Nintendo console — full MSRP for years with no meaningful discounts outside of rare bundle promotions.

Products That DO Go on Sale (Wait for These)

For contrast, here are categories where patience pays off:

    • Amazon devices (Echo, Fire TV, Kindle): 40-60% off on Prime Day
    • Robot vacuums: 25-40% off on Prime Day and Black Friday
    • TVs: Best prices arrive in November and January
    • Portable power stations: 25-35% off during summer sales
    • Anker chargers and power banks: Frequent 20-30% coupons year-round

    The Waiting Tax

Here is the math most people do not consider: if a $100 product saves you 30 minutes per day and you wait three months for a $15 discount, you have traded 45 hours of benefit for $15 in savings. That is 33 cents per hour. Your time is worth more than that.

For products that rarely go on sale, the best time to buy is when you need them. Stop refreshing price trackers and start enjoying the product.
