Dyson V15 Detect Review: Worth the Premium Price?

The Laser: Gimmick or Genius?

The Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head projects a green laser across your floor at an angle that illuminates dust and debris invisible to the naked eye. Our first reaction was skepticism. Our second reaction, after seeing the horrifying amount of dust on a floor we had just cleaned with our old vacuum, was genuine shock.

The laser turns vacuuming from a mindless chore into a targeted activity. You can see exactly where dust accumulates, which spots your previous passes missed, and when a floor is actually clean. It is not a gimmick. It fundamentally changes how you vacuum hard floors.

On carpet, the laser is less useful since carpet fibers obscure the light. Dyson includes a motorized brush head without a laser for carpet use.

Weight and Ergonomics
